Studies show that confusing navigation on a website is one of the first reasons behind a website losing its customers.
If your visitors are abandoning your site even if it is aesthetically appealing, content-rich, mobile-friendly and SEO optimised. Maybe it’s time to have a good look at your navigation.
A website that navigates easily lets it’s visitors find the content they need and then achieve what they need to with it (in the case of e-commerce, finding and purchasing a particular product) before frustration hits and try the next website. Keep in mind, this may be as little as 30 seconds for some customers (me included).
Clear navigation also helps with SEO, as it makes it easier for search engines to understand what your page does.
So… organisation is the key! If the navigation of your site is not properly designed and organised, visitors will most likely abandon the site and this bounce rate will have a huge negative impact on your search rankings.
